BCM - Industrial Motherboard & Custom Motherboard Supplier

BCM announces a change in its new Intel® Atom™ (Cedar Trail) product offering replacing the MX260N with MX255D due to feedback from early pilot program customers

Last month BCM announced its MX260N mini-itx motherboard based on Intel Cedar Trail platform. Due to overwhelming feedback from customers preferring the higher performing D2550 1.86 GHz dual core processor over the lower power N2600 1.66 GHz dual core processor,  and with both options able to perform fanless, BCM is pleased to announce the re-release of MX255D mini-itx as a replacement of MX260N.

BCM MX255D Mini ITX Motherboard featuring 3rd generation Intel Atom low-power processor onboard

The MX255D is equipped with the 3rd generation Intel Atom 32nm D2550 desktop processor plus the Intel NM10 Express chipset. The D2550 carries dual core 1.86 GHz processing power compare to N2600 processor (1.66 GHz). The MX255D adopts D2550 desktop processor on a mini-itx small form factor which provides better system stability.

The D2550 processor also integrates the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3600 and 4GB DDR3 memory capability supporting superior HD-rich content and dual independent display capability with DVI, 18/24-bit LVDS and VGA ports.

The upgraded memory feature provided by MX255D with its two So-DIMM sockets onboard support DDR3 memory modules up to 4GB offer a significant performance boost enabling greater system scalability.

A key benchmark in changing to the D2550 processor was the ability of the MX255D to operate  fanless.  The  mini-itx motherboard still  uses the same onboard 12V DC power interface. Other features including six serial ports, seven USB ports (USB DOM supported), onboard LPT port, dual SATAII connector, one PCI slot, one Mini PCI Express slot and one onboard Compact Flash socket.

The rich combination of the above features makes the MX255D a superior product in the value-performance category offering greater benefits for embedded computing applications such as  the retail Point of Sale, Kiosk, medical, digital signage and gaming industries.
